Grinshill First Ascents
The 1995 guidebook did not include a first ascent list for Grinshill. I have now put one together for this web update and if you have any further information (or corrections) I would be pleased to hear from you.
Details are unknown for the following routes and first ascents are therefore considered to be traditional:
One Lump? Or Two? Tate, Lyle, Rolling Pin, Whisk, Corner Climb, Evensong, Morning Wall, Dawn Corner, Ramp, Cockles, Muscles, Cave Route, Pillar Climb, Ladder Crack, Laddered Lycra, Pocket Route and Sidelines.
Mid 1960's : Tony Booth and friends were known to have been active at Grinshill at this time. It is likely that routes such as Black Wall and Main Wall were climbed during this period.
1980's : Nick Postlethwaite and friends visited Grinshill. Routes climbed include : The Pancake, Jam, Cream, Grip, Thompson Twins, Two Finger Gesture, Main Overhang, Main Eliminate, Nibbles, Stiches, Soles and White Tower.

1980's : Details are unknown for the following routes : The Nebuliser, Sugar Baby Love, Tin Tin, Shiver Me Timbers, Grinshill Without Oxygen.
1988 : Rock Climbs In The West Midlands published.
1989-1993 : Regular visits to Grinshill were made by a group of local climbers including A. Laurence, E. Smith, J. Jones, P. Brayne and B. Humphries. A variety of routes were discovered and rediscovered, including Mothercare, Caught In The Act, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Indifference of Opinion, Whose Line Is It Anyway, Clare Has Wings, Bleed With The Moon, Captain Haddock, Snowy, Midnight Madness, Sands Of Time, Utter Nutter and One Minute to Glory.
