Wrekin Mountaineering Club are having a cleanup at Wenlock Edge/Ippikins Rock
on Saturday 12 January 2008 and any extra hands would be appreciated if you
know anyone who would like to come along. The fun starts at 10am.
After discussion with the National Trust it has been agreed that the club can carry
out a clean up at Wenlock Edge to remove saplings, ivy, loose rock/dirt and any
branches that are in the way for climbing, topping out/belaying.
All three climbing areas will be worked on:-
The Main Area with the large crack above the 'cave'
The Right Hand Area, Job Buttress - directly in front of the pub
The Left Hand area - below the viewpoint next to the tarmac parking area.
Bring saws/secateurs, spades, gloves, and rope/harness etc. to set up access
to the routes. Alasdair Heath from NT has marked the saplings/branches that
can be removed with blue paint so the major work items should be obvious.
The rest of the cleaning should becommon sense but all routes will be
checked and dirt filled gear placements cleaned out.
Lunch can be had at the Wenlock Edge Inn or bring a flask and some food.
