Bouldering near Ile Renote |
La Cote de Granit Rose stretches between the two seaside resorts of Perros-Guirec and Trebeurden. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty which attracts a great number of visitors each year. It is also an extremely attractive holiday destination, which is especially popular with the British.

There are hundreds of granite blocks, most of which have names, scattered along the length of the coast but it would be impossible to detail the bouldering on these in a few simple web pages. There have been occasional magazine articles, most recently (see On The Edge issue 124) detailing some hard problems including several on the 'UFO' boulder see photo. One of the attractions of the area for visiting climbers will be the scope that the boulders provide for quiet and unspoilt exploration. Sadly, however, the most impressive walls and faces of the boulders are generally smooth and holdless and this will disappoint many climbers (including myself) who must seek out the slabs, cracks, aretes and other such easier features. |

The following information is a summary of the best bouldering and climbing that I found during two recent family holidays. If you are planning a visit to the area the information provided here may be helpful as a 'starter' for you. If you have details or information on any other bouldering in the area I would be pleased to hear from you. Follow the links on the left for the climbing and bouldering or see the landscape photo gallery |
