Pink Granite Coast : La Couronne du Roi Gradlon

La Couronne du Roi Gradlon

La Couronne du Roi Gradlon lies approximately one kilometre to the west of Tregastel and overlooks the eastern flank of La Greve Blanche. This is a pleasant venue with just enough on offer to warrant a short visit.

The granite contains a number of large chicken heads which give the appearance of conglomerate rock. The climbing, especially on the central section and on the shorter right hand section, is friendly and of the “go anywhere” variety. Only the more obvious lines are shown on the topo (above) and plenty of other variations and problems may also be found. Unfortunately, some of the landings are rather awkward and falling off from the longer routes, on the left hand side of the crag, would not be recommended!

La Greve Blanche provides an ideal and idyllic beach for the family to enjoy with a café and public toilets close at hand. There is also a convenient parking area directly below the crag and approach can be made from here, via the obvious footpath, in two minutes.
