Bouldering In Brittany

Carnac

The numerous standing stones at Carnac are an extremely popular tourist attraction. The vast majority of these are tiny, more like stepping stones, and they are now fenced off from the public. There are one or two larger stones (approximately 3 to 4 metres in height) but bouldering on these is out of the question.

Le Geant du Manio

A single, huge stone (about 5 metres) which lies hidden in the woods to the north east of the Alignements de Kermaris. This is a very impressive stone, which is not fenced off, and is worthy of the effort required to locate it.

Obviously, bouldering cannot be recommended by me but I am reliably informed that the most obvious line (via a hanging flake) goes at a superb HVS 6a.
